Saúde bucal do idoso e sarcopenia: uma revisão da literatura

Cada ano que se passa a população vem envelhecendo mais, com isso a população idosa vem aumentando, com isso inúmeros problemas relativos à saúde , a sarcopenia está ganhando grande visibilidade. Existe uma associação entre ausência de saúde bucal e baixa função oral com a sarcopenia. O objetivo desta pesquisa é avaliar, por meio de uma revisão da literatura ,a relação entre a saúde bucal do idoso e o desenvolvimento da sarcopenia. Foi conduzida uma revisão integrativa nas bases de dados PubMed, Scielo e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS). Utilizando os descritores do Descritor em Saúde (DeCS) ”Aged” “Oral Health” “Sarcopenia” acrescido do booleando AND.Foram selecionados 23 artigos, dentre os quais 22 encontraram relação entre sarcopenia e saúde bucal do idoso, e um não.A sarcopenia configura-se como uma condição sistêmica associada a múltiplos fatores de risco, incluindo hipertensão arterial, diabetes mellitus e doenças pulmonares obstrutivas crônicas. No contexto da saúde bucal, parâmetros como força oclusal e capacidade mastigatória foram associados à sarcopenia em investigações recentes. Os principais mecanismos explicativos dessa relação envolvem a via nutricional e a condição oral comprometida, que podem prejudicar a ingestão adequada de nutrientes essenciais, incluindo proteínas, cálcio e vitaminas A, D e E. A redução desses nutrientes contribui diretamente para o declínio da massa muscular, da força e da performance física.A análise da literatura demonstra uma relação significativa entre a sarcopenia e a saúde bucal do idoso.
