Energy, carbon dioxide and economic comparisons of tilapia sp. nnd cyprinus carpio in aquaponics system

Resumo

A aquaponia é um sistema de produção de alimentos que combina a aquicultura convencional (criação de peixes) com a hidroponia (cultivo de plantas em água) para utilizar os resíduos dos peixes como substrato para as plantas. Neste estudo, foram comparadas as espécies de Tilápia sp. e Cyprinus carpio (carpa koi) para verificar as diferenças entre peixes para consumo (tilápia) e peixes ornamentais (carpa koi) em termos de energia e economia. Foram calculadas as emissões de eletricidade e CO2 geradas durante o crescimento dos peixes. A quantidade de CO2 produzida pela carpa koi foi de 3,6269 x 10⁻¹⁰ toneladas de CO2/tonelada de peixe, enquanto a da tilápia foi de 2,2029 x 10⁻¹⁰ toneladas de CO2/tonelada de peixe. Constatou-se que a tilápia apresentou uma taxa de conversão alimentar de 1,73 e a da carpa koi, de 1,52, demonstrando uma maior capacidade de conversão de alimento em peso. Também se verificou que a carpa koi possui um valor de varejo superior ao da tilápia.
