Perfil de indivíduos com fraturas instáveis de tornozelo tratados cirurgicamente no Vale do Jequitinhonha, Minas Gerais

Durante a fase adulta, a causa mais frequente de fraturas de tornozelo são acidentes de trânsito e atividades esportivas. Nos últimos 20 anos, o número dessas fraturas tem aumentado em pacientes jovens e ativos, especialmente em homens mais jovens. Este estudo teve como objetivo descrever o perfil de indivíduos que sofreram fraturas instáveis de tornozelo tratadas cirurgicamente, por meio de redução aberta e fixação interna (RAFI), na região do Vale do Jequitinhonha, em Minas Gerais. Oitenta e seis pacientes (n = 57, homens; n = 29, mulheres) com fratura instável de tornozelo tratada cirurgicamente foram incluídos neste estudo. Eles foram admitidos prospectivamente de julho de 2015 a novembro de 2016 em dois hospitais na região do Vale do Jequitinhonha - Brasil. Um questionário sociodemográfico e clínico com 48 itens foi aplicado. A morfologia das fraturas de tornozelo foi analisada de acordo com o sistema de classificação da AO Foundation and Orthopaedic Trauma Association (AO/OTA). Dos 86 pacientes, os homens jovens predominaram em todas as variáveis pesquisadas. A causa de lesão mais comum observada foi acidente de moto seguido por acidentes de futebol (p≤0,001). Em relação às variáveis sociodemográficas do estudo, verificamos diferenças significativas nas variáveis tabagismo (p≤0,05); composição racial (p≤0,001); categoria profissional (p≤0,01) e escolaridade (p≤0,05) dos pacientes. Assim, de acordo com os resultados apresentados, concluímos que o perfil dos indivíduos que sofreram fraturas instáveis do tornozelo tratadas cirurgicamente, por meio de redução aberta e fixação interna (RAFI), na região do Vale do Jequitinhonha, em Minas Gerais, é majoritariamente do sexo masculino adulto, pardo, assalariado, com hábito tabágico e com baixa escolaridade.
