Peer Review Process

The Vozes dos Vales Journal uses a double-blind review process, ensuring that the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the process.

The evaluation workflow follows these steps:

1. Initial Assessment (Desk Review) Conducted by the editorial team, this stage verifies if the manuscript complies with the Author Guidelines (including scope relevance, formatting, metadata, and document submission) and checks for plagiarism or duplication. Manuscripts that do not meet the criteria or align with the editorial policy are archived, and the authors are notified.

2. Peer Review (Ad Hoc Evaluation) Manuscripts approved in the initial assessment are sent to at least two ad hoc reviewers who are experts in the paper's subject area. Reviewers are preferably professors and researchers from stricto sensu graduate programs (national or foreign).

Reviewers analyze the following criteria:

  • Methodological rigor;

  • Quality of writing and grammar;

  • Originality and creativity;

  • Alignment with the journal's focus and scope.

3. Editorial Decision Based on the reviews, the editors will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept: The article is approved by two reviewers and proceeds to the copyediting and layout phase.

  • Revisions Required: One or both reviewers request corrections. The article is returned to the authors for revision. The revised version will be re-evaluated before a final decision.

  • Reject: The article is rejected by two reviewers, archived, and the authors are notified.

  • Conflicting Reviews: In case of disagreement (one favorable and one unfavorable review), the manuscript is sent to a third reviewer to break the tie.

The final decision regarding publication and the issue in which the article will be placed rests with the editors.

4. Post-Acceptance After final approval and layout, articles are published online in PDF format and later allocated to a specific journal issue. No changes are permitted to articles after their publication.
