Abstract

This work deals with the consumption of cinematic entertainment, with the homosexual theme that stirs the imagination of people submerged in a patriarchal culture. The main objective is to discuss how culture, entertainment, and the imaginary represent the male homosexual in cinema using a descriptive and qualitative methodology, analyzing three films. It concludes that representation still plays with the symbolism of how people who have homosexuality as a sexual orientation are seen or qualified. Habits and customs are sometimes judged due to ignorance or trivialization of the being. But simply put, this society is present, living, loving, and consuming like any other person, and even if the representation is small or caricatured, the population exists and will not cease to exist.
