The Voices of the Valleys Project: Academic Publications of the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys – UFVJM, in Minas Gerais – Brazil, registered with the Office of the Vice-Rector for Extension and Culture – PROEXC under Number: 120.2.095-2011 and supported by the Department of Social Communication – DICOM, welcomes its readers, partners, supporters, and visitors.
This institutional extension initiative has two main objectives:
- Publish the UFVJM Multidisciplinary Journal "Vozes dos Vales" (Voices of the Valleys) biannually (ISSN 2238-6424 and UFVJM Registration: 120.2.095-2011) &;
- Publish free digital books for specific readers (e-books with ISBN). The publication, the multidisciplinary journal Vozes dos Vales da UFVJM (ISSN 2238-6424), and the e-books, derived from research conducted at this IFES, are an initiative to disseminate the scientific and academic production of the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys – UFVJM, in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
This educational initiative belongs to the UFVJM community (educators, technicians, students, researchers, and guests) and is published digitally, thus reaching targeted readers and scholars free of charge.
This university brings together a diverse group of researchers, educators, scholars, and writers, based in its various departments and/or institutes, on its campuses. Through this editorial creation, they gain a platform for the dissemination of their academic work, research, and debates. Even so, the Vozes dos Vales Project: Academic Publications (Digital Journal and E-books) intends to receive collaborations from other research and teaching centers in Brazil and abroad, promoting a broad inter-institutional academic dialogue.
The main objective of this virtual educational space is to publish research, scientific articles, books, essays, debates, interviews, reviews, case studies—that is, texts written in any language on a variety of topics, which contribute to the establishment of ongoing educational debate and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.

 

The Voices of the Valleys Project: Academic Publications of the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys – UFVJM is available to disseminate knowledge and multidisciplinary academic scientific debate. Given the emerging profiles of UFVJM at this historical and educational moment, this Digital Project aims to become a support and meeting point for discussions on teaching, research, and outreach—inseparable pillars of the teaching-learning process—and the transformations and interrelationships between Education, Culture, Science, and Society.
Mission
Publish scientific articles, books (e-books), essays, debates, interviews, reviews, case studies, or texts that contribute to the expansion of multidisciplinary educational, technological, scientific, and cultural knowledge. Objective
To use electronic media to disseminate scientific and educational knowledge produced in Brazil and abroad, aiming to stimulate academic debate and also assist educators, students, and professionals working in various fields of knowledge.

TITLE I
OBJECTIVES
Art. 1. The Voices of the Valleys Project: Academic Publications of the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys – UFVJM, edited and organized by the Editors and Editorial Board, registered with the Office of the Vice-Rector for Extension and Culture – PROEXC under Number: 120.2.095-2011, and supported by the Institution's Communications Department – ​​DICOM, aims to disseminate studies, research, and academic analyses from a multidisciplinary perspective. It has two main areas of work: the publication of the multidisciplinary academic digital journal Vozes dos Vales (ISSN 2238-6424) and the publication of e-books (free electronic books), both indexed by the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology – IBICT and the National Library.
TITLE II
TARGET AUDIENCE
Art. 2. The Voices of the Valleys Project primarily targets educators, staff, professionals, and students of the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys – UFVJM, but also professors, researchers, and professionals in general interested in various fields of knowledge.
TITLE III
RESPONSIBILITIES
Art. 3. The responsibilities and actions of the Voices of the Valleys Project: Academic Publications of the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys – UFVJM will be exercised, planned, and executed by the Editors (Chief and Assistant), an Editorial Board, Evaluators/Reviewers, and a technical team.
§ 1: UFVJM is responsible for:
I. Supporting and subsidizing the process of configuring each issue of the Journal and Electronic Publications (E-books).
§ 2: The Editor is responsible for:
I. Establishing, convening, and coordinating meetings of the Editorial Board;
II. Coordinate the editing, production, and dissemination of the Project's activities.
III. Indicate the name of the Assistant Editor(s).
Article 4. The Editorial Board is responsible for: Evaluators/Reviewers: Selecting texts for publication.
§ 1: The Project's Editorial Board comprises:

 

I. Editor;
II. Assistant Editor(s);
III. Guest researchers from UFVJM and other federal educational institutions;
§ 3: According to needs, the Editorial Board may appoint ad hoc consultants to provide opinions on any text submitted to the Project.
Art. 5. The Technical Team is responsible for the dissemination, editing, graphic production, and publication of texts approved by the Evaluators/Reviewers.
Art. 6. All information, opinions, arguments, data, tables, references, citations, and positions expressed in scientific texts published in the Vozes dos Vales Journal – UFVJM are the sole responsibility of their respective authors/writers, and they are responsible for any praise, criticism, and possible legal and judicial consequences. Therefore, Vozes dos Vales da UFVJM, as an instrument for university scientific and cultural dissemination and always valuing correct, lawful, and legal action, is not responsible for plagiarism, offenses, falsehoods, and/or inappropriate academic and scientific conduct of any nature.
TITLE IV
FREQUENCY AND PROJECT SECTIONS
Art. 7. The Multidisciplinary Electronic Journal VOZES DOS VALES da UFVJM will be published biannually, in May and October of each year, with the number of academic texts published being determined by the editors in charge.
§ 1: Issue numbering will be as follows: each Volume will have an increasing number, and Special Issues will follow the same numbering, but the nature of the specialty must be highlighted.
Art. 8. The Journal will be entirely electronic and hosted on the website of the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys (UFVJM).
§ 1: The Journal will have unrestricted and free access.
Art. 9. Regarding Electronic Books (E-books), only unpublished works that have neither been published nor are currently in press will be accepted. The author of the text to be published by the Vozes Project will be fully responsible for the data, texts, and news items presented, as well as for the costs incurred in registering the texts officially (ISBN) with the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT). There will be no specific deadline for receiving the texts, which must be sent, in a format predefined by the Project, to the editors of Vozes dos Vales.

TITLE V
EDITORIAL GUIDELINES
Art. 10. Only unpublished works will be accepted, those that have neither been published nor are currently in press.
§ 1: The author will be notified of the evaluation results within 90 (ninety) days.
§ 2: Exceptionally, and at the discretion of the editors, previously published works will be accepted, provided they are of great importance to the corresponding edition.
Art. 11. The publication of texts is not remunerated, and total or partial reproduction is permitted, provided the source is cited.
Art. 12. Signed and published texts, with the respective data: Name, Institution, and Email addresses, are the sole responsibility of their authors and do not reflect the opinion or responsibilities of the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys – UFVJM. Art. 13. At the editors' discretion, contributions in a modern foreign language (English, German, French, Spanish, or Italian) may be accepted and published.
Art. 14. Contributions to the Project must be sent to the Editors in accordance with the editorial guidelines.
Art. 15. The authorship of articles will be kept confidential by the Project editors during the evaluation process to ensure an impartial and fair evaluation.
TITLE VI
GENERAL PROVISIONS
Art. 16. Any omissions and questions arising in the application of these Bylaws will be resolved by the Editors and the Editorial Board of the Vozes dos Vales Project: Academic Publications of the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys – UFVJM.
