Prevalência da prática do piercing em estudantes universitários com beber em binge e uso de drogas ilícitas

O objetivo desse estudo foi investigar a associação da prática de piercing, beber em binge e uso de drogas ilícitas em universitários da área da saúde. Foi desenvolvido estudo transversal com amostra de conveniência de 190 universitários. Dados referentes ao piercing e variáveis independentes foram coletados por questionário semiestruturado. Beber em binge foi avaliado pelo Teste de Identificação de Distúrbios do Uso de Álcool (AUDIT C) e uso de drogas ilícitas pelo teste de Triagem do Envolvimento com Álcool, Tabaco e outras substâncias (ASSIST). Idade média dos participantes foi 22 anos. Prevalência do piercing foi de 46,8%(n = 89). Regiões auricular (53,9% n = 48) e nasal (6,7%, n = 6) foram as mais utilizadas. As razões para seu uso foram influência dos meios de comunicação (52,8% n = 47) e dos amigos (11,2% n = 10). Complicações imediatas foram experimentadas por 41,6% (n = 37) dos universitários. Piercing foi significantemente associado com sexo feminino (p = 0,016), beber em binge (p = 0,011) e drogas ilícitas (p = 0,001). Controlado pelo sexo, os universitários com piercing tiveram chances 2,5 vezes mais chance de beber em binge [OR = 2,5 (IC95%: 1,20 – 4,88)p=0,006] e quase 4 vezes mais chances de pertencer ao grupo que usaram droga ilícita [OR=3,9(IC 95%:1,83 – 8,25) p = 0,000]. Como conclusão, Piercing esteve associado ao beber em binge e ao uso de drogas.
