Fatores associados à qualidade de vida dos cuidadores de crianças com transtorno do neurodesenvolvimento

Introdução: Pais e cuidadores de crianças com transtornos do neurodesenvolvimento (TND) podem ser afetados em seu bem-estar pela experiência do cuidar. Objetivo: Avaliar a qualidade de vida (QV) de cuidadores de crianças com TND e identificar os fatores associados. Metodologia: Foram avaliadas as habilidades funcionais pelo Inventário de Avaliação Pediátrica de Incapacidade (Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory - PEDI) e a função motora grossa através do Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM-88) de noventa e seis crianças com TND acompanhadas em um centro de reabilitação. As respectivas cuidadoras responderam ao Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) e um questionário estruturado sobre o perfil sociodemográfico. A estratégia analítica para os testes de associações foi feita pelo modelo Generalized Estimating Equations (GEE). Resultados: Todas as cuidadoras eram mães e com média de idade de 37,1±10,5 anos. O domínio físico da QV associou-se à pior mobilidade da criança e menor status socioeconômico da família. O domínio mental da QV associou-se a maior quantidade de assistência prestada na função social e a melhor função motora grossa da criança no domínio de pé. Conclusão: Os resultados sugerem que os cuidados de crianças com TND devem extrapolar as suas limitações individuais e englobar os cuidadores no processo terapêutico não apenas para garantir uma boa QV, mas visando a qualidade do cuidado.
