The study of the dynamics and transformations of vegetation temporal space provides the understanding of how vegetation and its structure develop over time. The present study was mainly aimed at evaluating the dynamic temporal space of the mangrove forest in the sofala bay. To this end, images of remote sensing of the Landsat satellites of 2003, 2013 and 2023 were used. Using QGIS 3.14, images were ruined and geometrically, later classified to discriminate the mangrove in the sofala bay of other forms of land use, thus allowing mapping and quantification of the mangrove coverage area for each year of study. As a result, it was observed that during the period in analysis 14.23% of the mangrove coverage in the sofala bay, corresponding to 841 hectares, were lost. In the media, the coverage of manga in the sofala bay between 2003 and 2023 was reduced by 42 hectares/year. The mangrove coverage in the sofala bay reduces as other forms of land use and occupation increases. The expansion of housing areas and mangrove logging are some of the factors that influenced vegetation loss.
