Abstract

For some years now, a trend has been observed in contemporary productions – including adaptations – of engaging in a network where the story unfolds across multiple platforms and various media converge and intertwine. This new narrative condition is called transmedia storytelling. As transmedia storytelling is incorporated into adaptation, a break with traditional media transposition processes can be observed. This article presents doctoral research on the concept and role of adaptation in contemporary productions and the new logic of production and distribution when transmedia storytelling is present, resulting in other forms of circulation, marketing, and consumption of cultural products.
