The objective of this study was to record, for the first time, the occurrence of Black Cochineal (Saissetia oleae) and Cochonilha-de-Cera (Ceroplastes janeirensis) in Aroeira Vermelha (Schinus terebinthifolius) seedlings in the municipality of Diamantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Black scales were observed in immature condition attacking mainly leaves (upper face of the leaf blade) and immature and adult females attacking branches and stems of red scarlet. The wax scale was present in the immature form in the leaves (upper face of the leaf blade) and attacking branches and stem of this pioneer species.
