The increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions has had significant consequences for the planet. In this sense, actions to reduce these gases with measures to neutralize these emissions are essential. One of the most important mechanisms is GHG inventories associated with offsets through forest plantations. This study aimed to quantify and neutralize GHG emissions generated during a technical-scientific event at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), Monte Carmelo campus. The 11th Symposium on Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (SICAA) held in 2024 at the aforementioned university was used as a case study. The inventory was prepared following the GHG Protocol Brazil methodology, covering scopes 1, 2, and 3. The main emission sources included mobile combustion, solid waste generation, electricity consumption, and effluents. Total emissions were 3.89 tCO₂e, offset by planting 99 native seedlings in an anthropized area of Matinha Park, in Monte Carmelo, based on estimates of carbon sequestration in the Cerrado biome. In addition, climate awareness actions were carried out with the public involved, promoted by the Sala Verde Center for Training in Climate Education (CEFEC UFU). The study proposes a methodological protocol for integrating climate management of academic events integrated with educational actions to address climate change with an interface in research, teaching and extension.
