The functioning of forest patches (capões de mata) associated with grassland vegetation in peatlands of the Espinhaço Range is still incipient, despite their importance for biodiversity conservation and protection of water sources. This study aimed to understand the patterns of vegetative and reproductive seasonality of a forest patch and its relationship with local climatic conditions. The study was conducted in a forest patch in the Rio Preto State Park (PERP) in MG. Two peaks of higher plant litter production were observed, because of higher leaf deposition, in May and September 2022. These periods corresponded to the beginning and end of the dry season. A peak in fruit production was observed in April 2022, and a peak in flower production was observed in September followed by October. The annual litter production rate in the studied capão de mata was 5,52 Mg ha-1, mainly composed of leaves (72.4%) and twigs (11.9%), while reproductive structures corresponded to 12.1% of the collected material (4.6% of flowers and 7.5% of fruits).
